Dr. Matthew Everhard is the Senior Pastor of Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Matthew was born on the Lord's Day at around 10:30 in the morning (church time!) in the Rustbelt city of Akron. He grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, a Northeastern Ohio town famous for its beautiful "crooked river," scenic falls, and quaint midwestern sensibilities.

He sensed a call to the ministry early, while still in high school, and prepared for a life of ordained ministry at Malone Universtiy and Ashland Theological Seminary, and then later earned his doctorate from Reformed Theological Seminary. He was ordained to the ministry in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in 2008.

During his course of study at ATS Matthew concentrated in the field of Spiritual Formation with a minor in Bible. As an undergraduate at Malone, Matthew majored in Bible and Theology, with a concentration in Greek. While at Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando), Matthew did a directed study on Jonathan Edwards and wrote his doctoral dissertation on Edwards's theology of joy, supervised by Dr. Michael Allen. Matthew later published his dissertation as a book for the general public with the title, A Theology of Joy: Jonathan Edwards and Eternal Happiness in the Holy Trinity (Fort Worth, TX: JESociety Press, 2018).

Matthew is also a contributing editor for the book A Collection of Essays on Jonathan Edwards (JESociety Press, 2016), and a contributor of four entries (Joy; Hell; Original Sin; Predestination) to the comprehensive Jonathan Edwards Encyclopedia, published by Eerdmans in coorperation with the Jonathan Edwards Center at Yale University. He also has an article in the forthcoming Miscellanies Reader edited by Dr. Robert Boss, and a chapter in the forthcoming hardback Jonathan Edwards and the Dark Side of the Enlightenment, edited by John T. Lowe and Daniel N. Gullotta (Vanderhoek & Ruprecht, Germany).

Matthew is deeply committed to world missions, having served on the mission fields of Equatorial Guinea (Central West Africa), El Salvador (five times), Mexico (four times), Ukraine, the Bahamas, Scotland, Thailand, and the Cayman Islands.

Besides preaching, teaching, and writing, Matthew enjoys riding bikes with the family and playing in the backyard with the children. He coaches youth folkstyle and freestyle wrestling, reviews and collects Bibles for Cambridge and Crossway, and drinks his coffee jet black.

Today, he and his lovely wife Kelly have three children, Soriah (an aspiring neonatal nurse and writer), Elijah (an aspiring physical therapist and NCAA wrestling champion), and Simone (an aspiring lawyer, due to her penchant for arguing).

Besides preaching, teaching, and writing, Matthew enjoys riding bikes with the family, playing in the backyard with the children, and date night with Kelly. He likes black coffee (hot!), wooden rocking chairs, old books and Bibles, and volunteers for the local freestyle and folkstyle wrestling club. Matthew also serves as one of the coordinators for the Westminster Society, a networking group in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
