New Staff Appointments at Faith Church

We are very pleased to announce 2 new members to our team at Faith Church.

Marilyn Clark will be taking on the role of Director of the Children's Ministry starting August 25th.

Marilyn is a very experienced children's educator and earned her degree in Elementary Education from Ashbury College in Wilmore, KY. Marilyn's love for children overflows into her work with children. For many years Marilyn was a Teacher and for a period of time was Principal at Hernando Christian Academy. In Marilyn's own words 'I enjoy making people feel special, welcomed, loved and appreciated. More than ever, I want my life to count and do all to the "Glory of God"'

Cassandra Hall will be taking on the role of Director of the Nursery starting August 1st.

Utilizing her current skills we welcome Cassandra onto our team.  Cassandra also works within Hernando County School Board and her love for children flows into her personal and family life.

We know that God has called Marilyn and Cassandra to their role roles here at Faith Church and we are very much looking forward to working with them both.

Kristina Pfiffner accepts position in Boston

It is a glorious and a sad day for Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church. I am writing to let you know that our Director of Outreach Ministry Kristina Pfiffner has accepted a new position in the Children's Ministry at Newton Presbyterian Church near Boston, MA.

Kristina has been a wonderful asset to the Children's Ministry of Faith Church and will be missed greatly. We know that God has called Kristina to her new role and we wish her much success in building the Children's Ministry from the ground up. We believe that God has very exciting plans for Kristina and we look forward to hearing about her progress in the years to come.

Kristina's last day at Faith will be Sunday August 5th.

A Review of the 32nd General Assembly of the EPC

Each year, some elders of Faith Church are sent to what is known as the "General Assembly" of the EPC. The GA (for short) is the collection of all teaching elders (pastors) and ruling elders sent as delagates to our once-a-year national meeting.

This year, Gwynn Blair and I (along with my family) attended the GA in Baton Rouge, LA.

While some may view this kind of event as boring or unnecessary, Presbyterians have a long heritage of "connectionalism" that views engagement with our brothers and sisters in Christ as necessary and essential work.

Almost every year, some significant events take place including the commissioning of missionaries, theological considersations and, every once in a blue moon, (including this year!) a political statement is made!

Those interested in my personal report from the 32nd Annual General Assembly of the EPC can read it here on my blog.
